We’re thrilled to share that IDM Doors recently participated in the Whitehead Tour de Gwent, a fantastic cycling event supporting the incredible work of St. David’s Hospice Care! As a Gwent-based business, we’re passionate about supporting our local community, and this event was the perfect opportunity to do just that.
Located in Newport, in the shadow of the iconic Transporter Bridge, IDM Doors was proud to both sponsor and participate in this premier Welsh cycling event. The Tour de Gwent offered six different routes, catering to cyclists of all abilities, from the challenging 93-mile platinum route to a fun 3-mile option for kids.
Our very own Managing Director, Ian Pritchard, is a keen cyclist and led the charge for IDM Doors. He shared his enthusiasm: “My daughter Laura and I participated in the Dalmatian Bike Ride for St. David’s Hospice Care in 2018 and raised £300. We wanted to continue that support this year.”
Ian and Laura’s passion for cycling for charity goes beyond local events. They even embarked on a remarkable cycling journey from Monmouth to Limoges, France, when Laura was just 14! “We cycled from Monmouth to Poole, then Cherbourg to Limoges, carrying all our luggage,” Ian explained. “It took two weeks, but we had a fantastic time and raised over £600 for Bridge 2 Aid.”
This year, the Tour de Gwent held a special significance for Ian and several of his business associates, including Phil Tucker of New Inn Windows, who also joined the ride. “St. David’s Hospice Care is a truly worthy cause,” Ian said. “People like Dean and Phil have shared how the charity provided incredible support to their loved ones during difficult times. St. David’s cared for Phil Tucker’s father some years ago, and more recently, Dean’s father, Phil’s business partner.”
Franca Nigro, the organizer of the Whitehead Tour de Gwent ’19 for St. David’s Hospice Care, expressed her gratitude: “We’re delighted to have Ian and IDM Doors on board, both as sponsors and participants. We hope Ian’s involvement inspires others to join this fantastic event.”
At IDM Doors, we believe in giving back to our community. Participating in the Tour de Gwent was a rewarding experience, and we’re proud to have contributed to the vital work of St. David’s Hospice Care. We look forward to continuing our support in the future!
